OBITUARY, The Lyons Mirror Sun, 8 December 1932, page 1: The funeral services for Jack Maw, age 86, who succumbed at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nels Jensen, northeast of Lyons Tuesday evening, will be held Friday afternoon, 2 p.m., from Divide Center Church. The Rev. Bloomquist of Cleghorn, Iowa, former pastor of the Divide Center Church, will have charge of the services. Jack Maw was born at Scott County, Iowa, December 29, 1846, and at the time of his demise had attained the age of 86 years, 11 months and 23 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Laura Russell on December 8, 1873, and to this union four children were born, one dying in infancy and three survive. They came to this community November 2, 1885, and he had been a continuous resident. Until a number of years ago he was engaged in farming in the Divide Center neighborhood. He had been in failing health for about a year, but his death was unexpected and was caused by a heart attack. He leaves to mourn his demise, two sons, Arta Maw of Salem, Oregon, Elton Maw, and one daughter, Mrs. Nels Jensen of Lyons; one foster daughter, Mrs. Bessie Montgomery of Seattle, Washington; twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death a number of years ago.
