Read More	At the home of the family, asbout three miles northwest of Eureka, in the afternoon of Monday, September 16, 1895 from typhoid fever, John Grant Loy, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Loy, aged 26 years, 9 months and 11 days. The death of this young man, in the early years of his manhood and usefulness, the only son of his parents, is peculiary sad, and the sympathy for the bereaved parents and sisters is profound and universal. John Loy, as he was called by his friends, and they were many was born in Kansas, December 5, 1868. His whole life had been spent on the farm and he was as strong, rugged and healthy as any one could be; but typhoid fever, a fever that delights in attacking the strong and rugged, overcome him in the space of a very few weeks. Early in life he joined the Presbyterian Church, and remained a constant, consistent Christian unto the end. The funeral services, conducted by Rev. Charles Harrison, were held at the house Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, and the attendance which was large attested the respect and esteem entertaied for a life that had been lived correctly honorably and usefully. The interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery and more that forty vehicles followed the remains to their resting place. From Eureka Herald 20 September 1895 page 4.
