Description	:	August 27, 1928 Washington Evening Journal Funeral services for JOHN H. KEPHART, are announced today for 2:30 Tuesday afternoon at the Pleasant Hill church southeast of town. First plans for the service to be at the L. A. Jones funeral home were changed this morning. It is announced that the casket will be open at the funeral home this evening and until noon tomorrow. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill cemetery. Mr. Kephart committed suicide Sunday morning by hanging himself in a barn at the home of his son, Rodney Kephart, on North Fifteenth avenue and East Second street.... Mr. Kephart committed suicide Sunday morning by hanging himself in a barn at the home of his son, Rodney Kephart, on North Fifteenth avenue and East Second street. His body was found by a neighbor within an hour. He left a note saying because of continued ill health he was not getting any enjoyment from life and -thought best to make an end of it. A son of John Henry Kephart, Sr. and Margaret Easton Kephart, he was born in the Pleasant Hill neighborhood on January 18, 1873, and had lived all his life in this community. He leaves two sons, Rodney and Orie, and the following brothers and sisters: A. E. Kephart, R. W., Frank, Charles, and Mrs. Flora Nicholson, all of whom live in this community. Two sisters, Mrs. Mary Belle Lovelett and Mrs. A. R. Strum, are deceased. There is one half-sister, Mrs. Ed Mayhew, and two step-sisters, Mrs. Silas Caldwell and Mrs. Henry Rathmel of Kremlin, Okla,, Mr., Kephart's death is a great shock not only to members of his.family but to numerous friends and acquaintances in the community. He was a member of the Moose lodge of Washington.
