Description	:	Husband of Mary Sibit Regester. Note: inscription on old, original monument (foreground), has John's death date as being March 6, 1895. The newer monument has March 7, 1895. The Fairfield Ledger obituary noted that he died on a Friday evening, which if taken literally would seem to indicate that he died on March 8, 1895. Will use the March 7, 1895 DOD for this memorial but with those cautions. John Regester died very suddenly at his home four miles north of Fairfield Friday evening from heart disease. He had not been well for some time, but that day had been around the house and yard as usual. About 5 o'clock he fell in a faint, and died before any aid could be given him. Deceased was seventy-five years of age. He was a native of Washington county, Penn., came to this state twenty-eight years ago and had resided on the farm on which he died all that time. His wife died here in 1874. Two children survive the father, N. B. Regester and Mrs. U. B. Inghram, both residing in this county. Few men are held in higher esteem in the community in which they live than was John Regester. As husband, father, neighbor, friend and citizen he discharged honestly and conscientiously every duty which devolved upon him. No one knew him but to respect and honor him, and his old friends and neighbors pay many a tribute to his worth and excellence. The remains were interred in the Evergreen cemetery, this city, Friday, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. John Bridges of Packwood.
