Son of Thomas Newton Primm and Addela Perrin OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, July 31, 1947 JOHN HENRY PRIMM John Henry Primm, son of Thomas N. and Addela Primm, was born February 19, 1878, in Ottercreek township, Lucas county, Iowa, and departed this life on the farm where he had spent his entire life, on July 20, 1947, at the age of 69 years, five months and one day. He was married to Iola L. Ashby on March 1, 1903, and their home was blessed with four children who, with their families survive him. They are: Ardys Eaton and Gerald Primm, of Lucas, Iowa; Eleanor Sones, of El Centro, California; and Ann Primm, of Chicago, Illinois. His life was saddened in November, 1936, when his wife, with whom he had such a happy home life, passed away. He was converted during a revival conducted by Rev. Fitzgerald and became affiliated with the Methodist church of Norwood, serving on the board for many years. John was a citizen of the highest type. He was always interested in the furtherance of anything that would improve the local school and community. He served for many years on the school board, also as a township trustee. He was a member of the Farm Bureau since its beginning in Lucas county and put into practice all the newer methods to improve farming. He was also a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. In September, 1939, he suffered severe injuries in an accident and has been hospitalized several times since then, never having entirely regained his health. In spite of that handicap, he was always ready to give of his time and means on all Red Cross and U.S.O. drives and other community activities. His influence as a neighbor will never be forgotten by the many people who were happy to be called his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Annie, who died in infancy and Mrs. Mattie Lovell, of Holden, Missouri. He leaves to cherish his memory, besides the four children mentioned, six grandchildren, one brother, W. N. Primm, of Kenesaw, Nebraska; one sister, Mrs. Nina Kelley, of Chariton, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends. Funeral services, under the direction of the Miley Funeral Home, were held Wednesday, July 23, at 2 o'clock at the Norwood church. The Rev. Clifford Carter, pastor of the Evangelical United Brethren church officiated. Burial services were at the Norwood cemetery.
