PRIMM Iola Lel Ashby, second daughter of Thompson D. and Lel Pfrimmer Ashby, was born November 8, 1882, one mile east of Norwood, Lucas county, Iowa. She passed away at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines, on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 22, 1936, at the age of 54 years and 14 days. On March 1st, 1903, she was united in marriage to John H. Primm of near Norwood, and to this union were born four children, namely, Mrs. Ardys Eaton, of Lucas; Mrs. Eleanor Sones, of El Centro, Calif.; Gerald Primm, of Lucas,; and Anna Primm, of Des Moines. She was converted in early girlhood and united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Norwood, under the pastorate of Rev. Larrick. She had since been a consistent member for the cause of Christ. Her place in her home and community will never be filled. Not idle words when we say that hers was a useful life, full of good deeds. Her family was her first consideration, but her interest in community affairs was outstanding. She never refused when called on for help in anything worthwhile. Her home was the gathering place of her clan. Talented, she used her talents for the beautification of her home, for the happiness of others, and thereby won the respect and love of all who knew her. All through her sickness she bore her suffering with utmost courage and patience, never complaining, but thinking only of the comfort of those about her. She leaves to mourn her passing, her devoted husband, her four children; six grandchildren; her father, who had made his home with her the past few years; three sisters, Mrs. Edith Matheson, of Pompeys Pillar, Montana; Mrs. Nina Hanks, of Russell; Mrs. Lydia Sowder, of Verndale, Minn.; five brothers, T. D. Ashby, George Ashby and William Ashby, all of Chariton; Charles Ashby, of Alliance, Neb.; and Olin Ashby, of Kansas City, Mo.; besides a host of other relatives and a multitude of friends. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Harry Secor, of Chariton, were held at the church in Norwood on Wednesday afternoon, and burial was in the Norwood cemetery.
