Freiling Passes Away This community was shocked by the announcement of the death on Saturday morning at the St. Clare hospital of John J. Freiling, of the Elim country. Mr. Freiling, it will be remembered was injured on Sunday, May 27, on the Shonkin, when the Freiling truck, in which twelve were riding, turned over, injuring a number of the occupants. It was not thought the first of last week that Mr. Freiling was dangerously injured. He received a badly broken wrist and shoulder. The wrist was torn very badly by the broken bones and when brought to the hospital it was filled with dirt and it took several hours to clean out the wound. Later in the week blood poison set in and he passed away on Saturday. The death of Mr. Freiling removes from the Elim country one of the most highly respected residents. He was born in Germany on Oct. 20, 1886, and came to the United States when yet a small boy, settling in Iowa, but later moving to South Dakota where he spent the greater part of his life. He came to Montana in 1910 taking up a homestead in the Elim country, and where he has since resided. He was one of the successful farmers of that section and had a splendidly improved ranch. He was married in 1891 to Miss Anna Ludens, who survives him, and to this union eight children were born, five of whom survive him. The children are: Mrs. Elizabeth Brodock, who resides at home; John Jr., of Elim; Hipe, of Great Falls; Harm, who resides at home; and Mrs. Harold Rasmussen, of the Ridge section. Funeral services were held from the Catholic church on Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock, the services being conducted by the Rev. Fr. Finucane, and interment made in Riverside cemetery. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of the entire community in their great loss.
