Rauch, son of John and Elizabeth Rauch, was born on a farm northeast of Victor Jan. 27, 1894. He received his education in the Victor public school. Jan. 26, 1916 he was united in marriage to Edith Cackler of Lacona. To this union three children were born. After their marriage they made their home in Victor until 1936. At this time his wife passed away and he moved to Marengo where he made his home since. In 1937 he was united in marriage to Ella Klenk of Belle Plaine. She passed away a few years ago. Mr. Rauch was employed by the State Highway Commission for over 40 years and retired in 1960. His health had been failing the past years and he had been a patient in a Marengo Nursing home. Last Saturday, March 2, he entered the Marengo Memorial Hospital where he passed away at 11:45 the same day at the age of 74 years 1 month and 5 days. He is survived by his two children: Cloyd of Chicago and Lois, Mrs. Earl Reeves, of Colorado Springs. CO., four grandchildren and two great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Clara Carlson of Victor besides other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, one son, Lester, who was killed in WW II, one sister, Mrs. Marie Mumby, and one granddaughter, Janice Reeves, two brothers, William and Walter Rauch. Funeral services were held from the McAninch Funeral home Tuesday, March 5, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Eugene McClure officiating. Two organ solos, "Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset" were played by Mrs. Margaret Lyman at the organ. Casketbearers were Laurel Gerard, Arthur Schmidt, Everett Neuhaus, John Belk, Glenn Gerard, Gerald Slaymaker. Burial was in the IOOF cemetery at Victor.
