KELCH, JOHN--Death of John Kelch – John Kelch was born in New York state, March 2, 1852. He departed this life at Geneva, Neb., January 19, 1926, aged 73 years, 10 months and 17 days. He was married to Susan Hurburger in 1871. She died November 7, 1877. Mr. Kelch was later married to Mary Jane Sheen at Toulon, Ill. In the spring of 1887, they with their family came to Fillmore county, Nebraska. In 1918 Mrs. Kelch departed this life and since that time Mr. Kelch had made his home with his son Mike. He survived by eight children, three sons and five daughters: Mrs. Lizzie Fisher of Beaver Crossing, Joseph Kelch of Norwood, Mo., Pete Kelch of Geneva, Mrs. May Jay of Prosser, Mike Kelch of Geneva, Katie Saylor of Tangent, Ore., Mrs. Hattie Stoldorf of Exeter, and Mrs. Minnie Schmidt of Oak. All were present at the funeral except Mrs. Saylor and Joseph Kelch. There are also twenty-seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral was held at the Methodist church at 2 p. m. Thursday, January 21, Rev. H. G. Langley officiating. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. (Nebraska Signal, 28 JAN 1926, front pg)
