Description	:	John Leonard Martin, 76, of Nauvoo, Illinois, died at 10:56 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, 1993, at Fort Madison Community Hospital. Born April 22, 1917, in Henry County, he was the son of John Cathryn Ramey Martin. He married Frances Blint on April 30, 1937, at Kahoka, Missouri. She died January 14, 1974. Read More	John Leonard Martin, 76, of Nauvoo, Illinois, died at 10:56 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, 1993, at Fort Madison Community Hospital. Born April 22, 1917, in Henry County, he was the son of John Cathryn Ramey Martin. He married Frances Blint on April 30, 1937, at Kahoka, Missouri. She died January 14, 1974. He later married Toby Reed on June 12, 1976, in Lomax, Illinois. He was a member of Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7641 of New London, American Legion Holtz-Geers Post 668 of West Point, Lee County Coyote Hunters Club, Stella Masonic Lodge 440 in Fort Madison and KAABA Temple and 32nd Degree Scottish Rite in Davenport. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Martin was a heavy equipment operator for J. I. Case Company, retiring with 30 years of service. Survivors include his wife; a son, Wayne Martin of rural West Point; two daughters, Wanda Fry of West Burlington and Marilyn Broadfield of rural Wever; a sister, Mildred Martin of rural New London; two brothers, Merlin Martin of Morning Sun and George Martin of Mount Pleasant; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a son, a daughter and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Lunning Chapel. The funeral for Mr. Martin will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lunning Chapel with the Reverend David O'Rourke officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mount Pleasant. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7641 of New London. Memorials have been established for the Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital and the Des Moines County Cancer Society.
