Description	:	The Burlington Hawk-Eye Gazette John Martin, 67-year-old retired farmer of Lowell, died in Burlington hospital at 3 a.m. March 13. Death was due to a stroke, suffered March 11. Martin was the son of William and Martha Cousins Martin and was born at Pekin, Illinois, on November 26, 1887. He was married to Catherine Ramey at Mount Pleasant on March 4, 1915. They farmed in the Lowell vicinity for many years, retiring and moving to Lowell a year and a half ago. They farmed in the Lowell vicinity for many years, retiring and moving to Lowell a year and a half ago. Besides his wife, Martin leaves three sons and a daughter: Leonard Martin, Denmark; George and Merlin Martin, both of New London, and Mildred Martin, at home. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Mary Jennings, St. Augustine, Illinois, and 13 grandchildren. Several brothers and sisters are dead. Last rites will be held at the Elliott Chapel, in New London, at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Officiating will be the Reverend Lowell Dickinson, pastor of the Lowell Baptist church. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery, southeast of Mount Pleasant.
