Description	:	John Lewis Evans was born near Baltimore, Maryland, December 5, 1866 and passed away at Chickasha, Oklahoma, April 17, 1925. At the age of one year he moved with his parents to Wyanet, Bureau county, Illinois, where they resided until 1879 when they moved to Seward county, Nebraska, and were one of the pioneer families of this community. Read More	John Lewis Evans was born near Baltimore, Maryland, December 5, 1866 and passed away at Chickasha, Oklahoma, April 17, 1925. At the age of one year he moved with his parents to Wyanet, Bureau county, Illinois, where they resided until 1879 when they moved to Seward county, Nebraska, and were one of the pioneer families of this community. Here he grew to manhood. During his boyhood and school days he lived with his parents on a farm northeast of Beaver Crossing. He soon started out on his business career and for many years was engaged in the lumber business in Beaver Crossing.In 1900 he moved to Peru, Nebr., and then to Addington, Okla., in 1901, where he resided at the time of his death.At Addington he was engaged in most every line of human endeavor, banking, stock raising and farming on an extensive scale. Mr. Evans was the Premier of the great Southern Agricultural Empire. He devoted more than a quarter of a century in a clean upright honorable campaign of splendid achievements.Mr. Evans was extremely patriotic in pure high minded types of American citizenship. It was his opportunity and high privilege during the more recent years to assist eleven disabled and crippled ex-World War veterans to good homes, made them self supporting and self respecting independent American citizens.Mr. Evans was a member of the Masonic bodies, retaining his membership in the Blue Lodge at Beaver Crossing, Nebr., the Consistory at Guthrie, Oklahoma, and the Mystic Shrine at Oklahoma City. At the time of his death he had been elected County Commissioner of Jefferson county, Oklahoma.On December 4, 1901, Mr. Evans was married to Miss Jennie E. Dimery at Beaver Crossing, Nebr., whre the families of each were long time friends. The marriage was the happy consummation of life's early associations. He passed away at Chickasha, Oklahoma on his return from Oklahoma City, where he had been in attendance at the meeting of the State Highway Commission after a violent illness of double pneumonia.He leaves to mourn his untimely death, his wife, Jennie E. Evans, of Addington, Oklahoma, three brothers, Charles, of Geneva, Nebr., James C. of Beaver Crossing, George, of Santa Monica, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Anna Van Skike, also of Santa Monica, California.Beaver Crossing Times, Beaver Crossing, NE, Thur, Apr 23, 1925
