Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Palmer's Funeral Home in Fullerton, Nebraska. The Rev. Roy Cupples officiated. Burial was in Fullerton Cemetery with military rites. Mr. Bloyd was born November 20, 1909 in Green County, Kentucky to Elige and Zilpha Bell Bloyd. At the age of 11 he moved with his family to Nance County where he attended rural schools. Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Palmer's Funeral Home in Fullerton, Nebraska. The Rev. Roy Cupples officiated. Burial was in Fullerton Cemetery with military rites. Mr. Bloyd was born November 20, 1909 in Green County, Kentucky to Elige and Zilpha Bell Bloyd. At the age of 11 he moved with his family to Nance County where he attended rural schools. He farmed and worked for Harry Vogel for six years. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps for several years. In 1941 he entered the U.S. Army. He was a prisoner of war for 26 months. He was discharged in 1945. On January 10, 1946 he married Christine Milby in Summersville. They returned to Nebraska and resided in St. Edward for four years and then moved to Fullerton in 1950. They worked for 21 seasons on the carnival with the Davis United Shows and various other carnivals. In 1967 they retired from the shows and he went to work for the City of Fullerton. He did carpenter work and ran the movie theatre for several years. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. Survivors include his wife; two sons: Monte of Hastings, Nebraska; and James of Omaha, Nebraska; one sister: Alice Putnam of Denver, Colorao; and three grandchildren.
