Contributor: 46985513 - John O'Donnell Is Taken by Death - John O'Donnell, 88, died at 5:30 this morning at St. Anthony hospital, where he had been a patient since November 10, 1948.
Funeral services will be said at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's church, of which Mr. O'Donnell was a member. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. P.T. Lynch will read the requiem mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery. After 9 o'clock Friday morning the body may be viewed at the Sharp Funeral home until the time of the rites. The rosary, led by Msgr. Lynch, will be prayed at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Friday.
Mr. O'Donnell, who was born in Stevenson county, Ill, came to Iowa with his parents, John and Mary O'Donnell, March 18, 1875. For 58 years he was an employee of the American Express company. He was living in Mitchell, S.D. at the time of his retirement in 1933.
In 1938, he came to Carroll to live with his brother and sister, George and Nell O'Donnell. Surviving with them are three other brothers: Terence, Kansas City, Mo.; T. B., Anthon, and E. J., Sioux City.
Mr. O'Donnell was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two sisters, Mary O'Donnell and Mrs. Margaret Bromert, and three brothers, William, J.C., and Michael O'Donnell [Carroll Daily Times Herald 17 Aug 1950 page 1] |
