Description	:	John P. Westra was born October 15, 1913 to Peter and Johanna (Schut) Westra of Hull, Iowa. He attended country school through the eighth grade. John has lived his entire life in or around Hull. On February 8, 1939, he married Henrietta Warntjes in Boyden, Iowa. The couple then farmed at various locations around Hull until they moved to town in 1978. John served the ASC committee for 20 years and measured land for the federal government for many years. On February 8, 1939, he married Henrietta Warntjes in Boyden, Iowa. The couple then farmed at various locations around Hull until they moved to town in 1978. John was a member of the First Reformed Church of Hull where he participated in Men's Brotherhood, and also attended the Adult Sunday School class. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Henrietta Westra of Hull; six children: Muriel and Lyle Gritters of Sioux Center, Jim and Laura Westra of Rock Valley, Roger and Jacqulyn Westra, of Visalia CA, Donna Dykstra of Rock Valley and John, Randy and Wai Westra of Roseville, CA and Darla Wanningen of Vista, CA; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one sister, Pearl Roozing of Hull along with numerous nieces and nephews. John is preceded in death by his parents; three grandchildren: Jeff Dykstra, Larry Gritters and Martha Westra; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Henry and Tena Westra, Sam and Gert Westra; brother, Peter Westra; five sisters and brothers-in-law; Dora and John Van Dyke, Henrietta and Marion Moss, Fanny and Guy Vande Weerd, Johanna and Henry Boeve, and Margaret and Wilmer Miersma and brother-in-law, Corneal Roozing.
