McAsey died in his home 6 miles north of Holton on Sunday morning, November 14, 1948, at the age of 90 years, 7 months, 24 days. He was the oldest son born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Timothy McAsey of Winchester, Scott Co., Ill. McAsey died in his home 6 miles north of Holton on Sunday morning, November 14, 1948, at the age of 90 years, 7 months, 24 days. He was the oldest son born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Timothy McAsey of Winchester, Scott Co., Ill. He moved to Atchison with his parents, coming up the Missouri river by steamboat, landing at Atchison on March 20, 1860, there they lived for eight years, then moved on to a farm in Atchison county where he lived for 17 years. In 1883 he moved to the present home in Jackson County, north of Holton. He was married to Mary Ann Grannell on June 8, 1887, and to this union 11 children were born, two of which preceded him in death; also his wife, who died December 3, 1935. He is survived by five daughters and four sons, Mrs. John Flynn, Denver; Tim, Atchison; Mrs. Grace Flynn, Holton; Mrs. Scott Kidney, Ottawa; Matt, Holton; Mrs. Herbert Alley, Holton; Mrs. Clifford Lundstrom, Denver; John F., Holton, and William of the home; also one sister, Mrs. Mary Cawley, Valley Falls; two brothers, Mike of Holton and Andrew of Kansas City, and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and other relatives. His passing is mourned by a host of friends and neighbors. For 65 years he was a faithful and devoted member of St. Dominic’s church. His patience, kindness, humanity and friendliness were noted and appreciated by all who knew him. The funeral services were held at St. Dominic’s church, Holton, on Wednesday, November 17, at 9:30a.m. The requiem high mass was celebrated by his pastor, the Reverend Father Frank Glowacki, who in fitting words paid tribute to the truly Catholic life of this devoted member of his parish. Interment was made in Mount Calvary cemetery. The pallbearers were Harold and Donald Flynn, Norman McAsey, Joe McAsey, Leonard Becker and Paul Cawley.
