His marker has an incorrect year of birth. --Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church for Matthew Joseph McAsey, 71, who died in Wamego Monday in a hospital where he had been a patient four days. He was born October 23, 1895 at Holton and spent most of his life in the Holton community. He was a member of St. Dominic’s Catholic church. He formerly operated a funeral home here for 32 years. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mary Ellen Parker of San Jose, California and Mrs. Ruth Ann Krasovich of San Diego, California; three brothers, Timothy McAsey, Atchison and John McAsey and William McAsey both of Holton; four sisters, Mrs. Julia Flynn and Mrs. Agnes Lundstrom, both of Denver, Mrs. Grace Flynn of Mayetta, and Mrs. Ellen Kidney, Ottawa and nine grandchildren. Burial will be in Mount Calvary cemetery at Holton. Mr. McAsey will lie in state after 6 p.m. Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home at Holton where rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday.
