John McCormick's Body Found North of Bridge After 4-1/2 Months The body of John Patrick McCormick, resident of this city for the past several years, was found on Saturday afternoon by three small girls while playing along the river bank, just north of the bridge. The body was found partly buried in ice and snow and had only been exposed for a short time. Mr. McCormick disappeared on the evening of Dec. 27th and although searching parties looked everywhere they were not successful in locating him or his body. He was last seen down town and had started for his home. From what could be learned it seemed he had fallen over the bank of the river, but had not fallen in the water, and had made numerous attempts to crawl back up the steep bank. After making repeated attempts to get up the bank it is thought he became exhausted and then died of exposure. John Patrick McCormick was born April 23, 1975, at Walnut, Iowa, where he spent his early life, later moving to Colorado and coming to Montana in 1926. He was 60 years, 11 months and 12 days of age. Mr. McCormick was never married. He is survived by by his aged mother, a resident of this city for many years, and by three brothers and three sisters: James N. McCormick, Bridgewater, S. D.; Charles A. McCormick, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Thomas F. McCormick, Fort Benton; Mrs. Anna L. Adams, Rudyard; Mary L. and Jennie McCormick, Fort Benton; and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held from the Catholic church Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment was made in Riverside cemetery. The relatives have the sincere sympathy of the entire community in this their hour of sorrow.
