Adams, son of John Henry and Julia Edwards Adams, was born on April 30, 1885, at Vesta, Nebr., and passed away on February 5, 1980, at his home in Chester at the age of 94 years, nine months and five days. He moved with his parents from Vesta in March of 1892 to Chester, and lived in the community for 88 years. He received his education in the Forrell School, District No. 58, and in the Chester High School. He was the oldest surviving member of the Christian Church being baptized on December 26, 1906. He and his brother, Ben, turned the first sod when the excavation was made for the new Christian church in 1908. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Benjamin F. Adams; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Adams Dry; an infant sister. Survivors include two nieces, Mrs. Elizabeth Dry Brown, Western Springs, Ill., Mrs. Barbar (sic) Dry Snider of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother-in-law, Rev. Lawrence Dry of Mitchell, Nebr.; two grandnieces and two grandnephews. Services were held February 9 at the Church of Christ in Chester, conducted by Lacey Joiner. Interment was in Chester cemetery (sic).
