OBITUARY THE RUSSELL UNION-TRIBUNE Russell, Iowa Thursday, October 7, 1948 JOHN RICHARD SELLERS John Richard Sellers, youngest son of Mark and Maude Sellers, was born September 11, 1928, and passed away on October 1, 1948, at the Yocum hospital at the age of 20 years and 20 days, after being injured in the great outdoors he loved so well. Richard had been working for the past several months for their neighbor, Robert Edwards, and it was at this place he had the misfortune of being injured by a horse. All that loving hands and medical skill could do was to no avail and he died about 12:30 p.m. Richard attended Sunday school at Bethel, his little home church. At the age of nine he accepted the Lord Jesus in Bible school, under the ministry of the Rev. and Mrs. Lee. He graduated with the class of 1947, where he had been a good scholar the four years at Russell high school. He entered into the sports of the school playing basketball each year. Dick, as he was known, was a friend of all who knew him. He was a person who was always cheerful and courteous to everyone.. He was always so tender hearted, hardly able to bear seeing anyone hurt. Leaving to mourn his departure besides his parents are two brothers, Keith, at home, Clair, of Moravia, and two sisters, Helen Hull, of Chariton, and Shirley, of Marengo; one brother-in-law, Sylvan Hull and one sister-in-law, Mildred Sellers. Also four nephews, Allen, Don, Richard and Eddie Sellers and Deanie Hull and many other relatives and friends.
