OBITUARY THE CHARITON PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, October 6, 1960 JOHN MARK SELLERS John Mark Sellers, born Aug. 2, 1889, near Russell, Lucas county, son of Thomas Andrew and Delilah Rimer Sellers, departed this life Oct. 1, 1960, at the Yokum hospital, at the age of 71 years, one month and 28 days. He died following heart trouble. He married Maude Wright Oct. 26, 1910, and they would have observed their golden wedding anniversary in 25 more days. To this union five children were born: Keith, at home, tenderly and patiently cared for his father, Clair, Russell; Helen Hull, Carlisle; and Shirley McDonald, Russell; and Richard, whose death occurred 12 years ago, Oct. 1. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one infant grandson, Verle Eldon Sellers; a brother, Bert, and a sister, Laura. He leaves to mourn, besides his wife and children, one daughter-in-law, Mildred Sellers, two sons-in-law, Sylvan Hull and Richard McDonald, 11 grandchildren, a sister, Ethel Clanin, two brothers, Ray and Orlan, and a host of relatives and friends. He lived an exemplary life from childhood based upon kindness, humility and justice and reared his children in that pattern forming the basis for strong family ties. He will be greatly missed from this happy family circle. A beautiful life has ended, We'll see his smile no more. No kind words to greet us As we enter in the door. Deep in our hearts lies a picture Of a dear one laid to rest. In memory's frame we shall keep it, Because he was one of the best! Services were held at the Miley Chapel Oct. 4, with burial at the Bethel cemetery. The Rev. Ivan Rose officiated. Organist was Charles Wright, and music was by Carl Henry Wright and Quincy Robb. Escorts were Lindell Johnson, Newton Danner, Glen Beaty, Delbert Hull, Robert Edwards and John Prather, Jr.
