Read More	Stratford Courier October 12, 1911 Obituary Sackrison John Sackrison, one of the highly respected pioneer settlers of Webster and Hamilton counties, passed away at the home of his son, Albert Sackrison, one mile west of Stratford, Friday, October 6, 1911, at the ripe old age of 84 years, 11 months and 8 days. The subject of this sketch was born in Bottnaryd socken, Jönköpings Län, Sweden, October 28, 1826. He emigrated to America in 1852 and resided in Andover, Illinois, until 1865, when he moved with his family to Webster County, Iowa. He was married to Johanna Anderson January 18, 1856, and this union was blessed with eight children, five of which are living - three sons and two daughters. One son, Otto Sackrison, and one daughter, Mrs. Victor Gabrielson, reside at Dayton, Iowa. Two sons, Albert and Ed. Sackrison, and one daughter, Mrs. John Carlson, are residents of this community. In 1885 he was called upon to mourn the death of his wife and in 1894 he left his farm to live with his son, Albert. He was an earnest and devoted christian. He was united with the Swedish Methodist church at Andover, Illinois, in 1852, and when he moved to this community he united with the South Marion Swedish Methodist church, and in that denomination served as local minister and was willingly heard while preaching God's word. After he moved to Stratford he united with English M.E. church, being a member of that church until his death. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, October 8, at the home of his son, Albert, conducted by Rev. H.A. Peterson, and the remains laid to rest in the Swede Bend cemetery. He is survived and mourned by five children, one brother in Dayton, Iowa, other relatives and a host of friends. Note: Born Johannes Zachrisson, son of Zachris Abrahamsson and Stina Andersdotter on October 28, 1826 and baptized on October 29, 1826 at Bottnaryd, Jönköping, Sweden.
