He was born at Flat Iron in Gloucester and was the son of the late William Sidney and Martha Walker Foster. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Ware Neck where he served as a deacon and the chairman of the deacon Board and Superintendent of Sunday School for a number of years and was retired from Norton Food Co. where he was a salesman and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was born at Flat Iron in Gloucester and was the son of the late William Sidney and Martha Walker Foster. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Ware Neck where he served as a deacon and the chairman of the deacon Board and Superintendent of Sunday School for a number of years and was retired from Norton Food Co. where he was a salesman and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Joyce Ann Hudgins Foster daughter, Judy McKinney, sisters Barbara, Rachel, and Marie, and brother Carrol. He is survived by his sons John S. Foster, II and his wife Pam, and Jerry L. Foster and his wife Vivian, and a sister Iris Mae Foster., ten grandchildren, fifteen Great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Beulah Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Following the interment, a reception will be held for the family at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 10487 Harcum Road, Gloucester, Va. Memorial donations may be made to Beulah Baptist Church, PO Box 46, Ware Neck, Va. 23178. Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory, Gloucester is in charge of arrangements.
