Description	:	John Thomas Boar, son of William and Elizabeth Statcher Boar, was born 24 Feb 1841 and baptized 6 Mar 1841 in the church in Lutton, England. In the fall of 1854 when John was 13, the family emigrated to America leaving 3 sons buried in England. They settled in Rutland, Vermont and lost another 3 sons, all within days of each other in December of 1854; Moses, William (1st), and Levi are buried in Castelton, Vermont. Read More	John Thomas Boar, son of William and Elizabeth Statcher Boar, was born 24 Feb 1841 and baptized 6 Mar 1841 in the church in Lutton, England. In the fall of 1854 when John was 13, the family emigrated to America leaving 3 sons buried in England. They settled in Rutland, Vermont and lost another 3 sons, all within days of each other in December of 1854; Moses, William (1st), and Levi are buried in Castelton, Vermont. Ten years later the Boar (Boore) family moved to Illinois and resided there for 2 years and then moving on to Pottawattamie County, Iowa where they remained. They were parents to 14 children. We know all this because John T Boar took the time to write down the family history in his letter of 1916, as well as the names of his siblings, their d.o.b. and d.o.d. He also writes he was in Sidney, NE in 1916 when writing down this information after following his younger sister Mary there. I believe he was living with her family (Hecker) in the 1910 federal census. John was a veteran of the Civil War, receiving a disability pension as an invalid in 1890 which would explain why he resided with family members over the years. He served in Company H 14 of the Vermont Infantry. There is no evidence he ever married.
