Lavy, son of John Franklin and Margaret Lavy, was born in Argenta, Macon county, Illinois, June 24, 1881, and died at his farm home east of Glasco, Kansas, March 21, 1945, at the age of 63 years, 8 months, and 26 days. He came to Kansas in 1886 with his parents, two older brothers and one sister, all of whom have preceded him in death. The family settled four miles east of Glasco on what is known as the Libben farm, where they lived until he was eleven years of age, at which time they moved to this farm where he resided until the time of his death. He was married to Pearl R. Woodward on November 24, 1904, at Osborne, Kansas. To this union three children were born, two of whom died in infancy. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, one son, Roy R. Lavy, and wife, Evelyn; two granddaughters, Shirley Ann and Mary Lou, and one grandson, Donald Russell. Mr. Lavy's life was characterized by his devotion to his family and his faith in God and humanity. He loved people and their friendship. He in turn was loved and respected by his friends and neighbors. No distance was too great, no day too cold to go to wait on a sick friend or help a neighbor who needed him. His acquaintances were his friends; his friends were his loved brothers. In his death he leaves a memory of loving kindness and a life well lived. Funeral services were held at the home at 2:30 p.m. March 23, Rev. R.R. Braddick, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Interment was in Glasco cemetery. Music was furnished by Mrs. Fred Harper, Mrs. O.L. Norton, Mr. Robert Pitner; pianist, Mrs. E.V. Plush. Pallbearers were Frank Colwell, Frank Kappel, Charles Parrott, John Bullock, Cool Blake, Cecil Martin.
