Sterling, of Crisfield, one of the best known boatmen engaged in the oyster and crabbing trade on the Chesapeake, and master of the oyster vessel "Susie May," was found dead on the deck of his boat at an early hour last Tuesday morning. Read More	Captain John W. Sterling Captain John W. Sterling, of Crisfield, one of the best known boatmen engaged in the oyster and crabbing trade on the Chesapeake, and master of the oyster vessel "Susie May," was found dead on the deck of his boat at an early hour last Tuesday morning. Pendleton Scruggs, officiated, assisted by Dr. John J. Bunting. Burial was in Asbury cemetery. Captain Sterling is survived by his mother, Mrs. Sarah J. Sterling; his wife, Mrs. Manie Sterling; four sons, John W. Sterling Jr., Thomas Sterling, and Randall Sterling of Crisfield, and Warfield Sterling, an instructor in the Pennsylvania public schools; and two daughters, Mrs. Grafton Wilson of Crisfield, and Mrs. Charles Beauchamp of Newport News, Va. Two sisters, Mrs. S. J. Justice of Crisfield and Mrs. John H. Ford of Baltimore, also survive. Mr. Sterling was a member of Eastern Shore Jr. O. U. A. M. and the Modern Woodmen of America. He was a man of great industry and was known as one of the most successful oystermen and crabbers who sailed out of Crisfield. His untimely death came as a great shock to a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. The Crisfield Times, Crisfield, Maryland, Saturday, February 1, 1930, p. 1 _________ John W.
