Ellison, 67, former Thorp and Ellensburg businessman and rancher, died this morning at Valley General Hospital. He had been in poor health about two years and entered the hospital three days ago. Ellison was born February 2, 1886, near Thorp on the ranch homesteaded by his pioneer parents, John C. and Amy A. He had been in poor health about two years and entered the hospital three days ago. Ellison was born February 2, 1886, near Thorp on the ranch homesteaded by his pioneer parents, John C. and Amy A. Ellison, in the seventies. he attended school at Thorp and business college in Seattle. He was married in Manchester, Iowa, to Mary Etna Frank and returned to Thorp with his bridge, who died 13 years ago. For about two years he operated the family ranch, then purchased a grocery and meat market business in Thorp. Later, he bought a ranch near Thorp and ran it until he came to Ellensburg about 10 years ago and opened Ellison's New & Used Store here. After operating that store about three years, he sold it and invested in an apartment house and other real estate in Ellensburg. About a year later, he secured the former Anderson Furniture Works on W. Eighth Avenue, which he renamed the Ellison Furniture Works and operated until his health failed. He was a member of the former Woodmen's Lodge of Thorp. Surviving relatives are a daughter, Mrs. Marie Hall, formerly of Thorp but now residing in Bremerton; five sisters, Mrs. Rose Harvey and Mrs. Pearl Brain of Thorp, Mrs. May Hilton of Medford, Oregon, Mrs. Olive Hanlon of Bellevue and Mrs. Mary Petty of San Francisco. Funeral services for Ellison will be conducted in the Evenson Funeral Chapel here Thursday, April 2, at 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. David R. Vaughn officiating, and burial following in the Thorp Cemetery. Ellensburg Daily Record, March 31, 1953
