Description	:	John was born in present Beverly, West Virginia, to Jacob Westfall and Mary King. In 1794, six year old John moved with his parents to Elizabethtown, Kentucky. In 1808, twenty year old John moved with his parents to Miami County, Ohio and there wed Rachel, surname unknown, in 1809. There they had: 1) Lucinda in 1810 2) male in ~1813 3) Eliza Jane on 10 Jun 1816 4) Lorenzo Dow on 23 Dec 1818 John served as a private in the 1812 War and his family is noted in the 1820 Miami County census. In 1827, they moved to Putnam County, Indiana, and daughter Lucinda wed Josiah Anderson on September 21, 1829. John does not show in the 1830 census. John's son Lorenzo wed Eleanor Crawford in adjacent Montgomery County on December 29, 1836, and his daughter Eliza wed Garlin Barns there on July 20, 1837. After this wedding, John and his son and two daughters moved to Des Moines County, Iowa and show there in the 1840 census. Neither John nor son Lorenzo is shown with children. In the 1850 census, John was next to son Lorenzo in Des Moines County, Iowa and has no children listed. They moved west to Eddyville in Columbia Township, Wapallo County and show there, next to daughter Lucinda Anderson, in the 1856 Iowa census. On October 14, 1856, daughter Eliza Barnes died and was buried in the Eddyville Highland Cemetery. In the 1860 census John and Rachel where in Pleasant Township, Monroe County part of Eddyville. Eddyville overlaps the three Iowa counties of Monroe, Wapello, and Mahaska. John and wife Rachel do not show after the 1860 census and believed to be buried in Highland Cemetery. Son Lorenzo's wife Eleanor Crawford is also thought to be buried there in 1861. Daughter Lucinda and husband Josiah Anderson did not show in the 1860 census but the family is in Stockton, California in 1867, per voter registration and noted there in the 1870 census. The family traveled there by wagon train as the railroad line was not completed until 1869. Note: John's death date is an estimate as occurred between 1860 and 1870 census.
