He was preceded in death by his brothers, Rudy, Cecil, Joseph, George, and Herbert Comer; sisters, Helen Kost, Blanche and Anastine Comer. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Virginia McLaughlin Comer; sons; Douglas and Lise Comer of Lancaster, James and Wendy Comer of Charlotte, North Carolina, Christopher and Angie Comer of Lancaster; daughters: Anna Kay and David Heskett of Lancaster, Cathy Wright of Newark, Lisa and John Dinger of Pickerington and Marsha Carlson of Lancaster. Jon retired from Altens Machine Shop with 37 years of service and was a decorated U. S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, VFW Post 1516, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 955 and Olivedale Senior Ciitizens Center. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Lancaster, with the Rev. Jeff Jewell officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery on George Road. Friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Lancaster veterans burial detail will conduct military rights at the cemetery following the service. The Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 955 will have a memorial service at 6:30 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
