He was a lifetime Lawton resident who graduated from Lawton High School in 1950. He married Thelma Chambers on Dec 25, 1949, in Lawton. Mr. McCaig was employed with the Lawton Fire Department of 30 years, retiring in 1980 as deputy fire chief. In 1981, Mr McCaig was employed as a film technician by Lawton Public Schools. As a professional fire fighter, he attended the Texhoma Arson Seminar in Wichita Falls, Tx. He held a degree from Oklahoma State University in Fire Inspection and also held a degree in High-Rise Firefighting. He completed degree work in Fire Department Administration in 1973. Mr. McCaig had received a Certificate of Recognition from Cameron University in blueprint reading and attended an effective communications workshop. He was a member of OK Fire Chiefs Assn, OK Municipal League Honor Roll of Service, and First Assembly of God Church. Survivors include his wife; a son, Ron Steve; two daughters, Pat Wood and Liz Chambers; two sisters: Shirley Milligan and Doris Chapman; and 7 grandchildren.
