Read More	Son of William Edward "Ed" Marker and Cordelia Tout OBITUARY THE CHARITON LEADER Chariton, Iowa Tuesday, August 14, 1951 JOHN WILLIAM MARKER John William Marker, son of William and Cordelia Marker, was born in Ottercreek township, Lucas county, Iowa March 9, 1931 and passed away at the base hospital at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base, Cheyenne, Wyo., Aug. 7, 1951 at the age of 20 years, four months and 29 days, as a result of a motorcycle accident. He spent his boyhood mostly in Lucas county, attending Tilford school. In 1934 the family moved to Warren county, moving back to Lucas county in 1944. After 1945 he spent most of his doing farm work in Mitchell county. He attended Osage high school one year. In 1948, he and his mother moved to Mitchell county. In 1949 he enlisted in the Navy, taking his base training at the Naval Air Based at San Diego, after which he served on the USS General J. C. Breckenridge. At the end of the year he entered the Naval Reserves. In September, 1950 he enlisted in the Air Corps as a Private First Class and went to Lackland Field, Texas for his basic training, after which he went to Tyndall Field, Florida, where he received further training and became a member of the Air Police. In December 1950 he came home on leave, and then went on to the Francis E. Warren Air Force Base at Cheyenne, Wyo., where he has since been stationed. About a month ago he was made a Corporal. He was preceded in death by his father, his sister, Mrs. Julia Ann Parkhurst and two brothers, Charles Riley and Raymond Walker. He is survived by his mother, sister, Mrs. Mary Johnson, two brothers-in-law, Ray Johnson and Russell Parkhurst, one nephew, Rodger Johnson, three nieces, Dorothy Ann, Erma Jo, and Betty Louise Johnson. He also leaves a number of aunts and uncles and cousins and many friends to mourn his loss. Services were held at the Downs funeral home, Sunday, August 12, at 2 p.m. The Rev. W. L. Peters, of the First Baptist church officiating. Burial was made in the Fletcher cemetery. The American Legion conducted the military rites.
