Son of John Wesley Marker and Julia Melvina Parker OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, May 4, 1944 WILLIAM EDWARD MARKER William Edward Marker, son of John Wesley Marker and Julia Melvina Marker, was born in Ottercreek township, Lucas county, Iowa, on October 5, 1883, and departed this life at the Yocom hospital in Chariton, Iowa, on April 29, 1944, at the age of 60 years, 6 months and 24 days. Almost his entire life was spent in the vicinity of Norwood until January 29, 1944, when he moved to Lucas, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Cordelia Tout on August 28, 1921, at the Christian parsonage in Chariton, Iowa. To this union five children were born, two of whom, Charles Riley and Raymond Walker, preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn their loss his wife, Cordelia; two daughters, Mrs. Julia Ann Parkhurst, of Sheffield, Iowa, and Mrs. Mary Frances Johnson, of Osage, Iowa; a son, John William, at home; two sons-in-law, Russell Parkhurst and Roy Johnson; his father, John Wesley Marker. He is also survived by four brothers, C. B. and M. A. Marker, of Lacona; J. E. and R. O. Marker, of Lucas; two sisters, Mrs. Dollie Pottorff, of Yakima, Wash., and Mrs. Olive Chandler, of Lucas; also a number of nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. He was also preceded in death by his mother and three sisters, Mrs. Ida Pottorff, Mrs. Zena Brown and Mrs. Faye McKinney. He had been afflicted with heart trouble nearly all his life, and the past year and a half he had also suffered with dropsy. On April 15, when his condition had reached a critical stage, he was removed to the Yocom hospital, where, despite excellent care, he passed into the Great Beyond on Saturday, April 29. He had never united with any church but always enjoyed attending church services. He often spoke of the loved ones who had gone on before. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. James T. Bloom, of the Christian church, were held at 2:00 o'clock, Tuesday afternoon at the Norwood United Brethren church, and burial was in the Fletcher cemetery.
