Description	:	Stratford Courier June 20, 1907 Jonas Oslund was born on the 9th day of July, 1825, in Alta parish, Hälsingland, Sweden. In infancy he was baptized and afterwards confirmed in the Lutheran church. Fifty-five years ago he was united in marriage to Christina Olson, and in this union ten children have been born. In the year 1867 he arrived in America with his family and located in Bishop Hill, Illinois. Read More	Stratford Courier June 20, 1907 Jonas Oslund was born on the 9th day of July, 1825, in Alta parish, Hälsingland, Sweden. In infancy he was baptized and afterwards confirmed in the Lutheran church. Fifty-five years ago he was united in marriage to Christina Olson, and in this union ten children have been born. In the year 1867 he arrived in America with his family and located in Bishop Hill, Illinois. Two years later he moved to Iowa and located in the vicinity of Stratford, where he has been living ever since. He died peacefully Thursday afternoon, the 13th of June, at 4:30 o'clock, at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 4 days. He leaves a wife, children and grandchildren and many other relatives and friends to mourn his departure. Funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon. Rev. Martin conducted private services at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gust Peterson at two o'clock and public services at the Lutheran church at 2:30 o'clock. The remains were laid to rest in Oakwood cemetery. One by one the pioneer settlers of this country are taken to their reward.
