Mrs. August Peterson passed away at her home in Stratford Wednesday, June 7, 1911, at 8 o'clock p.m., after an illness of about three years duration. Almost up to the day of her death she was able to be up and around and when the sad news had been circulated that Mrs. Peterson was dead a pang of sorrow was felt in the hearts of her many friends. Anna L. Oslund was born in Alta Parish, Helsingland, Sweden, June 16, 1862. She came to America with her parents in 1867, locating at Bishop Hill, Illinois. Two years later they came to Iowa, settling near Stratford. she was confirmed in the Swedish Lutheran church May 18, 1884, and has since been a devout and faithful member of the church and an earnest and upright christian. She was a loving wife and mother and a good neighbor. She was united in marriage to W.H. Bowman, March 24, 1889. One daughter was born to this union, but was called home at the age of 1 year, 3 months and 18 days. On May 20, 1891, she was called upon to mourn the death of her husband. On October 26, 1893, she was married to August Peterson and to this union one son was born, Emmett, who is left to survive her death. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 at the residence and at 2:00 at the Lutheran church, conducted by the Rev. N.E. Kron of Dayton. The remains were laid to rest in the Oakwood cemetery. She leaves to mourn a loving husband, one son, one adopted daughter, one brother, one sister and numerous friends. The angel of Death again visited the home of August Peterson Monday afternoon and removed Mrs. Christine Oslund, the mother of Mrs. August Peterson, who passed away last Wednesday. Had she lived until the 20th of next November she would have attained the ripe old age of 86 years. The bereaved ones have the heartfelt sympathy of their many friends in their double bereavement.
