Description	:	Funeral services for Mrs. Jorgina Hjelden was held at the Free Church, Wed, July 27, 1949, at 1:30 PM Rev Norem officiating. Mrs. Harvey Piper was the organist and Ellen Thompson and Ethel Schuman, soloists. Mrs. Hjelden was born in Mandalen, Norway Aug 6, 1867 of parents Anna Vold and Per Sabo. She came to America in the spring of 1888 and the fall of the same year she was married to Erick Hjelden who preceded her in death 20 years ago. Mrs. Harvey Piper was the organist and Ellen Thompson and Ethel Schuman, soloists. Mrs. Hjelden was born in Mandalen, Norway Aug 6, 1867 of parents Anna Vold and Per Sabo. She came to America in the spring of 1888 and the fall of the same year she was married to Erick Hjelden who preceded her in death 20 years ago. To this union 14 children were born, two of whom preceded her in death. She was an active member of the Ladies Aid until her health failed and a pioneer member of the West Minnewaukan Free Church. She passed away peacefully at her home on July 23, 1949 at the age of 81 years after a lingering illness. She leaves to mourn her passing 12 children: Olof and Anton at home, Annie, Mrs. Robert Dyste, Portland Oregon; John of Maddock; Peter of Bismarck; Gina, Mrs. Harold Hanson of Sheyenne; Inga, Mrs. Christ Dyste of Oberon; Elmer of Minnewaukan; Josephine, Mrs Arthur Larson of Nelson British Columbia; Emma, Mrs. Ed Carlson, of Maddock; Carl of Fond du Lac, WI; and Melvin of Minnewaukan; also 66 grandchildren and 31 great grand children. One brother, Anton Sabo of Eureka. MT and sister Mrs Petra Sinness of Minnewaukan, Beret and Christine of Norway, and Mrs. Karl Freng of Canada. (This was an incomplete sentence in the obit....possibly they preceded her in death as well.) She was laid to rest in the church cemetery beside her husband. Six sons, Elmer, Olaf, Carl, Melvin, Peter, and Anton acted as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers were Peder Ness, E.F. Schuman, Arthur Lynner, Oscar Olson, Chas. Gantner, and Ralph Solli.
