Description	:	Funeral rites for Joseph Dostal, Sr., 84, were held at 1 o'clock March 4, at the home and at 2 o'clock from the ZCBJ hall in Clutier with the Rev. J.W. Kasa of Chelsea officiating. Mr. Dostal passed away at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, March 1, 1950 at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids where he had been a patient 18 days. Joseph was the first son of Mr.and Mrs. Frank Dostal, born May 24, 1865 at Bela Luisa Czechoslovakia. He lived there until the age of 24 at which time he came to America. He settled in Belle Plaine. In 1888, one year after arriving in this country, he married Anna Pavlicek of Bela Luisa Czechoslovakia. They lived in Otter Creek township where Mr., Dostal worked at odd jobs, until they started farming in the Clutier vicinity. About two years later they purchased a farm two miles north of Elberon on which they both resided until their deaths. Mr. Dostal was a charter member of the ZCBJ lodge at Clutier. He was preceded in death by his wife, May 14, 1943, and one son, who died in infancy. Surviving are seven daughters and four sons, Mrs. Albert Vileta, Mrs. Anna Hrstka, Mrs. Emma Plucar, Mrs. Charlie Chalupsky, Mrs. Fred Salasek, Mrs. Louie Wiebbecke, Mrs., Art Finzen, Emil John, James and Joe. Also surviving is a brother Frank, in Racine, Wisconsin., a sister in Czechoslovakia 30 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Casket bearers were grandsons, Alvin Plucar, Dale Salasek, Emil Hrstka, Albert Vileta, Jr., Charlie Dostal and Melvin Dostal. Burial was in the National cemetery near Vining.
