Description	:	J. Alfred Osterholm was born in Sweden, June 25, 1857, died at Essex, Iowa, October 26, 1902, being 45 years, 4 months, 1 day old. Mr. Osterholm came to this country some twenty years ago and with his brother, August engaged in business in our little city, which at that day was a very small place indeed and for over 19 years these two brothers have continued in business and at the time of Mr. Osterholm’s death the firm was the same as in former years, Osterholm Brothers. Eldred was one of a large family of children, eight of whom survive him, four brothers and three sisters, also his aged father and mother, who are greatly respected citizens of our town. The subject of our sketch was married 26 years ago and to the union eleven children were born, eight are still living, five boys and three girls. All were present at the funeral except the oldest daughter, Mrs. Oscar Swanson, she being ill at her home in Red Oak. The funeral was held at the Lutheran Church, of which the deceased was a member. He was also a member of the Modern Woodmen of Arica and varied a policy of $1,000. Thus it is one more citizen of our little city has been laid to rest and one more neighbor has gone to his reward, and a loving husband and father will be sadly missed by wife and children.
