| Description | : | IMMIGRATED: 1852 NY.-IL.-IA. In 1860 Joseph gave up his work in the Wagon & Carriage factory in Chicago. With the husbands of three sister; Joseph Goodman, Joseph Breunig and John Guild went by covered wagon and ox team to Marshall Co., IA. to homestead on government land near the present town of Rhodes. The women and children went by train as far as Iowa City, which was the end of the railroad at that time, and the men met them with the ox carts.
