He was born March 12, 1922, in Clyde, to Fred and Viola LeClair Roy, and graduated from Clyde High School in 1941. He was an engine operator for Northern Natural Gas Co. for 31 years before he retired April 1, 1984. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and Loleyte Post No. 7515 of Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Clyde, Clifton Post No. 227 of the American Legion in Clifton and Moose Lodge in Concordia. He married Elaine M. Racette on Feb. 9, 1957, in Clyde. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Traci DeBauche, Concordia, and Lori Berkelhamer, Wichita; a brother, Lyle Roy, San Jacinto, Calif.; and three grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Church in Clyde. Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion will conduct graveside services at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Clyde. Mr. Roy will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Chaput Mortuary in Clyde and after 6 p.m. at the church where vigil services will begin at 7 p.m. Parish rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. today at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or American Parkinson's Disease Association.
