Read More	JOSEPH CRAWFORD PASSES AWAY Another of Hamilton’s and Butler County’s oldest and most highly esteemed citizens – Joseph H. Crawford – has passed away. Death came to claim him at 3:30 Thursday afternoon at his home, 1095 Hooven Ave. The death of Mr. Crawford was not wholly unexpected. He had been ill for several years and for the past two and a half months had been confined to his bed. Everything possible was done for him and life’s end came quietly and peacefully. Mr. Crawford was born August 6, 1854, at New Baltimore, the son of John A. and Phoebe McHenry Crawford. He was born on a farm and after reaching manhood he himself took up the pursuit of farming which he followed successfully until 1884, when he became identified with the Ohio Hedge company as manager for Southern Ohio. Mr. Crawford continued his connection with the company for three years and then again took up farming on an extensive scale, operating his own farm of 230 acres in Ross Township, near Venice. In all of his undertakings, Mr. Crawford displayed keen business judgement and devoted his time to his various endeavors with an unusual enthusiasm. Mr. Crawford was united in marriage with Miss Eliza DeLong in 1875. She passed away March 24, 1879. Two children were born to this union, a son who died July 19, 1924 and a daughter who is still living. The second wife of Mr. Crawford was Miss Mary K. Bauerle, whom he married April 5, 1883. To this union there were born three children, all of whom survive. Mr. Crawford was a man held in high esteem by everyone who knew him or ever had any dealings with him. He was noted for his exceptional honesty in every relationship in life and he was generous to a fault. Mr. Crawford was especially devoted to his home and family and was a great lover of children, taking a deep interest in every child with whom he came in contact. In politics Mr. Crawford was a republican, but he never permitted his political convictions to interfere in any way with his friendships or his relations with his fellow men. Mr. Crawford is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary K. Crawford; two sons, Paul R. Crawford, manager of the Krauss Radio store; and Joseph B. Crawford, of the post office department, both of Hamilton; Mrs. Grace De La Croix of Hamilton; and Mrs. Leora Fisher, of Denver, Colorado; a brother, John N. Crawford, of Hamilton; and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Belle Bryant of St. Charles; and Mrs. Mary Bearman of Johnson, Kansas. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, many more distant relatives and a host of friends who will be deeply grieved to learn that life’s end has come to him and who will extend their most sincere sympathy to the members of his family. Funeral services will be Monday afternoon, with interment in Greenwood.
