Read More	Obituary: Teutopolis Press – February 21, 1946 JOSEPH LANUS DEAD Joseph Lanus, 95, died at Pocahontas, Iowa last week according to word received by his nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. C. Lanus in Teutopolis. Funeral services were held Friday morning at Pocahontas with burial taking place in the parish cemetery there. Mr. Lanus formerly resided in the Island Grove vicinity. After the death of his first wife, nee Schuler, he was married again and is survived by his second wife, who is an invalid; seven children by his first wife and several step-children; as well as three sisters, namely: Mary Geis of Chicago; Kate Schall of Redfield, S. D.; and Tillie Yackley of Colten, Wash. Wm. C. Lanus left Thursday to attend the funeral services but due to a delay enroute on the train to Chicago, caused by an unfortunate accident, occurring when a preceding train struck an automobile at a crossing, his arrival in Chicago was too late for him to get to Pocahontas in time for the funeral services. After the death of his first wife, Mr. Lanus moved to Iowa where he had since resided. However no doubt many of the older citizens of this community will remember Mr. Lanus and his family and this paper joins them in extending to the Lanus family sincere sympathy in their bereavement.
