Description	:	Joseph Lester Duey, son of David Parker and Emma Houston Duey was born on November 14, 1906 at Chester, Nebraska and passed away on May 1, 1993 at the Republic County Long Term Care Unit in Belleville, KS, at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 17 days. Joe attended Chester Public Schools. He was united in marriage to Minnie Dye on September 25, 1925 and to this union seven children were born. He was a lifetime resident of the Chester community. Joe attended Chester Public Schools. He was united in marriage to Minnie Dye on September 25, 1925 and to this union seven children were born. He was a lifetime resident of the Chester community. He was engaged in farming until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church of Chester, NE; a member of both the Chester Masonic Lodge No. 298 AF&AM, Chester Odd Fellows Lodge for many years; a former 4-H leader; a member of the Chester Community Club; and a member of the Eastern Star of Hebron, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Emma Duey; his wife, Minnie in 1991, and an infant son, Dale Frederick. He is survived by two sons, Douglas Duey of Lincoln, NE, and Don Duey, Chester; four daughters, Mrs. Clifton (Joyce) Hall, Lincoln, Mrs. Stanley (Irene) Austin, Bellevue, NE, Mrs. Clyde (Bonnie) Beall, Woodbridge, Virginia, and Shirley Duey of Lincoln; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. Services were held on Tuesday, May 4, 1993 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Chester, NE, conducted by the Reverend Randy Dilts. Mrs. Jack Long and Mrs. Wilbert Crouse sang and Mrs. Dolan Frye was organist. Casket bearers were Gordon Duey, Greg Duey, Brooks Beall, Brian Austin, Marc Austin, James Beall and Jeremy Beall. Honorary casket bearers were Kimberly Hall, Kristi Hall, Hubert Skucius, Wilbert Crouse, Margaret Chisholm, Janet Key, Raymond Duey, Duane Duey and Harmon Gilkeson. Graveside services were held by the Chester Masonic Lodge No. 298 AF&AM. Interment was made in Chester Cemetery, Nebraska.
