His body was found in the barn. He leaves a widow and grown children. Reasons for the tragic affair are unknown. ==== Chester Herald (Chester, NE), Thursday, December 3, 1931; pgs. 1 & 4 David Parker Duey was born in Cumberland County, near Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Sept. 25, 1886, and died in Chester, Nebraska, Nov. 25, 1931; at the age of 65 years and two months. In 1884, at the age of 18 years, he joined some of his older brothers, who were engaged in farming near Bloomington, Illinois. From there these brothers, two years later, moved to Chester, Neb. On March 3, 1894, he was united in marriage to Emma Houston at Stewartsville, Missouri. To this union three children were born: Mrs. Mary Wortman of Omaha, Nebr., Mrs. Olive Struble and Joseph L. Duey of Chester. On January 3, 1901, he with his family, moved to Kingman county (sic), Kansas, living there on a farm for five years. In July, 1906, hee (sic) and his family returned to Chester, where he purchased a farm, residing on this faBrm (sic) until 1926, when he and his wife retired from the farm to the home in Chester, where they have since resided. His loving wife and his three children yet survive him, also seven grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Susanna Throne and Mrs. Sarah Smarsh aree (sic) left, the only surviving ones of a family of thirteen. When but a young man Mr. Duey surrendered himself to the faith of Jesus Christ, his Master, and united with the Methodist Episcopal church (sic). He served his Master and his Church never losing faith, even in times of trial. He wa (sic) kind and loving, always interested in the welfare of his family, and always interested in the welfare of his neighbors and such enterprises as pertained to the greatest interest of the community in which he lived. Almost his last words, were praises and prayers for his family. The hymn by the great hymn writer, Chas. Wesley, has been chosen by his loved ones as a closing thought. A charge to keep I have. A God to glorify. A never dying soul to save, And fit for the sky. To serve the present age, My calling to fulfill, O may it all my powers engage To do my Master's will! Funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal Church at 2:30 p.m. Friday, conducted by the pastor, Rev. E.L. Corbit, and interment was made in the Chester cemetery (sic).
