Description	:	Joseph M. Bishop, 69, of Clothier, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY. He was born December 24, 1949 in Lyburn, WV, a son of the late Doran Sr and Edna Stevens Bishop. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 37 years and the mother of his children, Kay Stowers Bishop. Bishop, 69, of Clothier, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY. He was born December 24, 1949 in Lyburn, WV, a son of the late Doran Sr and Edna Stevens Bishop. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 37 years and the mother of his children, Kay Stowers Bishop. Joey was an electrician in the mines for 34 years and a member of the UMWA. He served in the Army for 2 years. Joey enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping and was a self taught musician and could play a variety of instruments. One of his greatest joys in life was his only grandchild Makayla, whom he nicknamed Psych during the first few days of her life. He loved taking her camping and fishing or just picking her up to spend the night. She was definitely a popaw's girl that he dearly loved. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Irene Bishop of Clothier; one daughter, Bridget (David) White of Logan; one son, Charlie R. Jr (Sharon) Keeney of Clothier; one sister, Diana Mayhorn of Madison; two brothers, Henry (Debbie) Bishop of Delbarton and Doran Jr (Jackie) Bishop of Hewett, WV; one grandchild, Makayla Jo White and her fiance Jonathan Dotson of Chapmanville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dempsey & Judy Stowers of Clothier, Wayne & Kathy Stowers of Palm Harbor, FL and Carol Riggs of Connecticut; and a host of other family and friends. Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Little and Rev. Caudill officiating. Burial will follow at Family Gardens, Madison, WV. Visitation will be on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 6 – 9 pm at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Charlie Keeney Jr, David White, Wayne Stowers, Henry Bishop, Ronnie Mayhorn, Chad Bishop, Ned Bishop and Jackie Spurlock. Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
