Father of Mabel Macha Tegtmeier. Farmer. JOSEPH MACHA Joseph Macha, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Macha, was born on July 16, 1873. He died on Jan. 7, 1952 at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 22 days. Mr. Macha was born and raised in the neighborhood of Steinauer. In the year of 1899 he went to DuBois and settled on a farm southwest of town. On Nov. 5, 1901, he married Miss Frances Chauza. To this union one child was born, Mrs. Albert (Mabel) Tegtmeier. The Machas spent the greater part of their life on the farm. In 1949 they moved to DuBois. Mr. Macha was a good husband and a kind father. He loved the farm, and was an ardent worker, thorough in every detail. He took great care in raising livestock. He was a considerate neighbor and a friend in the community. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Albert Tegtmeier, one son-in-law, three grandchildren; two sister, Mrs. Roy Buckles and Mrs. Ed Nemec. Mr. Macha was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and William Macha, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Simandl and Miss Ona Macha and Rose and John who died in infancy. Mr. Macha was a member of the K. P. Lodge in DuBois. He lived to enjoy his 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 5, 1951. He leaves his wife, his relatives and a great host of friends who mourn his departure. Funeral services were held in the Macha home at 2 0'clock on Thursday, Jan. 10. Many friends gathered at the Evangelical United Brethren church to hear the services by loud speaker. The Rev. Lowell E. Ferguson delivered the sermon. A quartet composed of Clifford Boehmer, David Rinne, Lawrence Meier and Carl Rohlmeier sang "In the Sweet, Bye and Bye" and "The Old Rugged Cross", accompanied by Mrs. Clifford Boehmer. Interment was in the DuBois cemetery. The K. P. lodge took part in the committal service. The pallbearers were Henry Tegtmeier,Jr., John Bohm, Leslie Bock, Herbert Droge, Glen Chauza and Roy Kerl. (Pawnee Republican, Pawnee City, NE.) Uncle Joe had one of the nicest farms in our neighborhood, he built a beautiful home there. They had a huge orchard and garden. What a wonderful place to visit on the shady porch swing in the summer.
