Description	:	Joseph Patrick Devin was born in Illinois on November 2, 1872 to Anthony and Catherine Devine and passed away on January 1, 1954 at Rosary Hospital in Corning, Iowa. In his youth he moved to Iowa with his parents and at the age of 14, came to Nodaway. He spent most of his life in and around Nodaway. He was united in marriage to Anna A. Read More	Joseph Patrick Devin was born in Illinois on November 2, 1872 to Anthony and Catherine Devine and passed away on January 1, 1954 at Rosary Hospital in Corning, Iowa. In his youth he moved to Iowa with his parents and at the age of 14, came to Nodaway. He spent most of his life in and around Nodaway. He was united in marriage to Anna A. Anderson on October 14, 1908. To this union a daughter and three sons were born. The daughter passed away in infancy and his wife in February 1948. His three sons, Raymond of Brooks, Harold of Council Bluffs, and Paul of Giltner, Nebraska survive him. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. After their marriage, the Devines farmed north of Nodaway for a few years, moving north of Nodaway for a few years, moving to Nodaway in 1914 where he was in the grocery and reality business. He was the last member of his family, three brothers and one sister preceding him in death. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, January 3, at the Pitman Funeral Home in Villisca, with Rev. Wm. O. Niles of Nodaway Presbyterian Church officiating Mrs. Neal Gray was soloist accompanied by Mrs. Frances Wheeler. Pall bearers were Robert Waters, Jack McClaren, Arthur Devine, Robert Reichardt, Charles Devine, and Dan Devine. Burial was in the Nodaway Cemetery. Adams County Free Press, January 7, 1954, page 5
