| Description | : | Joseph Robert fought in the War of 1812 in the 2nd Regiment of Tennessee Volunteer Infantry under Colonel John Brown from January 1814-May 1815 with men from Bledsoe, Roane, Anderson, Blount, Knox and Cocke Counties. Colonel Brown commanded two separate regiments at different times during the war. Robert served in this 2nd group. Regiment #2: East Tennessee Volunteer Mounted Gunmen. Captains: John Chiles, Charles Lewin, James McKamy, Jesse Rainey, James Standifer, John Trimble and William White. Robert's brother, Samuel served in the same unit with just over 200 men.
