Read More	Joseph W. Sheppard is the oldest son of James T. Sheppard and Mary Ann Savage. He is the oldest brother Mary Ann, Ella, John F., James and Hannah. He was married to Mary M. Moran less than a year before he died. "The Remains of Joseph Sheppard: Laid in the City of the Dead, With Impressive Ceremonies. This morning at 7:30 the many friends of Mr. Joseph W. Sheppard assembled at his late residence on Fourth Avenue to pay the last mark of respect to his memory. The RCTA Band, and the Roman Catholic Temperance Society, both of which he was an honored member, were present. At 8 o'clock a procession, headed by a color bearer with the stars and stripes, followed by Martin Grimes, Marshal of the Society, formed at the house. The band of nine pieces followed, when the temperance society, to the number of 67, kept measured tread to the solemn funeral air played by the band. After the society came a long line of carriages – numbering 66 – bearing relatives and friends of the deceased. The pall bearers were Messer's. James Cunningham, James Clancy, John Clancy, J.A. Delaney, Joseph Kennedy and Thomas Tulley. The procession marched to St. Mary's church where solemn services were conducted by Rev. Father Mc Laughlin followed by interment in the Catholic cemetery. Thus ends the life of one of Clinton's young men, who had given promise of a long and useful career, and now a chair is vacant by his recently erected family altar and a young wife, who less than a year ago was a happy bride, is in deep sorrow, while the father, mother and other relatives are also in deep grief, but have the bright promise of a future meeting as a silver lining to the heavy sorrow cloud."
