Description	:	This community was shocked Tuesday morning by the announcement that Joseph W. Bailey, one of the oldest and best known of Sweet Grass county citizens, had been called by death. The announcement was received with doubts at first, but when its truth became known expressions of sincerest sorrow were heard on every band. Bailey, one of the oldest and best known of Sweet Grass county citizens, had been called by death. The announcement was received with doubts at first, but when its truth became known expressions of sincerest sorrow were heard on every band. Monday deceased had been at his store all day, and in the evening visited at his home with neighbors until bed time. About 4:30pm he was taken with apoplexy and a physician was called. He gradually grew worse until 7:45, when the end came. For some time he had been a sufferer from hardening of the arteries and had expereinced one severe attack, but on the day and evening preceding his demise he had been in the best of health. Funeral services will be held at the Congregational church tomorrow afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. Joseph Pope of Laurel, an old friend, and Rev. John C. Blackman of Pompeys Pillar, recent pastor of the church of which deceased was one of the founders. Deceased was born in Virginia and was 60 years of age about two weeks ago. he had been a resident of what is now Sweet Grass county for more than 30 years, had served as chairman of the first board of county commissioners, state senator, alderman and school trustee.
