Miss Bailey passed away Feb. 20 at the Deaconess hospital in Great Falls after an illness of a year and a half. Music was by Mrs. A. Ronald McDonnell and Mrs. Ted C. Interment was in Mountain View. Miss Bailey was born in Big Timber on August 26, 1887, the first child of Joseph W. and Mary Ella Bailey. Her early childhood was spent on a ranch on Little Timber creek -where her father was engaged in sheep-raising. She was educated in the Big Timber public school through the eighth grade and then entered the Liberty School for Girls in Liberty, Mo., graduating at the age of eighteen. Her first business venture was the operation of a hospital in Oregon City, Ore., in partnership with Miss Virginia Parks, a nurse. Upon her return to Big Timber several years later, she and Miss Parks purchased and managed a wheat ranch in the Gibson country which they operated for about six years when Miss Bailey and Nellie Lamb purchased the Dixon jewelry business in Big Timber and set up a store of their own. Six years later they sold out and moved to Anaheim, Calif, where they leased a small hotel for two years. They then moved back to Big Timber and resided here until 1936 when Miss Bailey and her mother moved to Eugene, Ore., to make their home. Four years later, however, found them back in Big Timber where they bought the present Bailey home on McLeod street. After Mrs. Bailey died in 1942, Sadie went to Portland. Ore.. where she resided until May of last year. Since that time she had made her home here with her brother, Floyd Bailey.
